| My pre-hail storm passion fruit vine. |
My blog has always felt more like an infomercial than a journal. So in an effort to get back to the true purpose of blogging, my Sunday Wrap Up will be my journal entry for the week; not a sandwich recipe.
I can't believe it's already February
It has been a long week here at Fussy Farm and I barely took notice of the fact that we are into the second month for the year. I have spent most of my time cleaning up after the freak hail storm which caused a flood in my laundry and debris to be left everywhere. I've carted no less than 3 wheelbarrow loads of leaves and limbs out of the yard and I am far from being finished. The laundry is taking its time as well as I needed to let things dry out a bit before I packed them up again. I'm feeling very put out by this rude interruption to my schedule...not that I really have much of a schedule, but you know what I mean.
School's back...Yeah!
The Darlings started school this week and I am not sure that I made as much fuss about it as I could have. I managed to give their hair a bit of a trim, got labels sewn into their uniforms and found most, but not all, of their school supplies at the local newsagents. My hopes of filling their lunchboxes with sandwiches in the shape of elephants and writing them encouraging notes just didn't happen this week. So needless to say, I haven't progressed further to the ranks of Uber Mum.
After-school tantrums
The Fussy Eater showed signs of fatigue by day three because she arrived home each day having not eaten much of her lunch. My ruling on this infringement was that she would not get an after school snack until she had eaten the fruit/veggies remaining in her lunch bag. The injustice of this set her off and she spent at least 15 minutes wailing, fist beating on the kitchen counter. The first two days she went without the snack and held out until dinner. But the third day she cried for 5 minuted and then spent 20 minutes eating the half of an orange from her lunch before I gave her a snack. Is this progress? I don't know. At least she hasn't learnt to toss her lunch in the bin at school yet.
Muesli bars and meal plans
I just made a batch of muesli bars for the week. I have given up trying to find the perfect recipe and just chuck in everything I know The Fussy Eater will consume, and hope that no one notices the sesame seeds I slipped in. I intend to do a menu plan for the week, but there is a huge pile of papers on my desk that keep distracting me. I know that come Wednesday I will regret not having prepared a plan and I'll waste time trying to figure out how to make a meal out of frozen peas. Oh well, necessity is the mother of invention.
The week ahead
I've been using my new Inner-B organiser to help me at least feel like an Uber Mum. The coming week is already scribbled with long lists and lots of notes. I'm (hopefully) guest posting on sshh...Mummys on the phone this Tuesday and I just read KateTakes5 Listography post which I may just have to join in on. And I may even get a meal plan out this week. So lots to do...after I have a little Sunday nap!
Have a happy, healthy week ahead!
